VISION IN-School
The VISION IN-School program for fourth through sixth grade students was implemented by the Affiliates in 1996. JSEI Affiliates' volunteers have taught the interactive curriculum which covers anatomy of the eye, eye disorders, eye safety and injury prevention in scores of local classrooms, introducing over 9,000 children to this unique science program.
Eye injury is the leading cause of blindness in children in the United States. VISION IN-School provides children information on how to protect their precious gift of vision.

Community IN-Sight
Community IN-Sight is a volunteer speaker's bureau that presents free public eye care lectures at senior centers, schools, and civic organizations throughout the Los Angeles community. Presenters include JSEI faculty members and Affiliates volunteers and encompass a wide range of vision related topics. Consumer Health Education
JSEI Affiliates participate in a variety of public service programs including public and private health fairs and the annual Research to Prevent Blindness VisionWalk. Affiliates volunteers are called upon regularly to participate in various community health events to provide vision related patient information and support event staff at different medical forums.
