The JSEI Affiliates was launched by a handful of volunteers and the Jules and Doris Stein UCLA Support Group in 1990 as a broad-based volunteer network to serve the Jules Stein Eye Institute’s three tiered curriculum of research, education, and patient care.  

The goal of the JSEI Affiliates is to "provide the best possible vision for every person." Four integrated programs were created to meet this ambitious goal:

• Vision Education
• Patient Services
• Community Relations
• Research Support

Over the years, the Affiliates have built a collection of diverse and far-reaching programs to serve the Greater Los Angeles community.
